Chapter 33. The Call The Cops Church

May 19, 2010

The Call The Cops Church

The Sunday night worship service was going great. Everyone was enjoying liberty in the Holy Ghost. Some had their hands in the air. Three teens even ran a lap around the auditorium. A few others were out in the aisle dancing and praising the Lord. The first time visitor lady soon joined them.

Everyone seemed busy praising the Lord, so no one remembers just when the new lady went down on the floor.

As soon as some of the sisters noticed, they made their way over to pray with her. While they were praying with her, she began to demonstrate signs that something was not right. She thrashed and jerked around on the floor. Her behavior was not that of someone receiving the Holy Ghost. Most thought she was possessed.

A few brave young preachers tried casting the devil out of her without any success. The attention of the worshippers became more focused on the lady than on worship. The music still played and the praise singers still sang but all eyes now were focused on the woman.

This went on for about 5 minutes. Finally the pastor came down off the platform and knelt by her. The church members backed up to give him room. The middle-aged pastor bent over and whispered in her ear for about 10 seconds and then he stood up and headed back toward the platform.

Before he got to the platform, the woman stopped her writhing around, got up and went back to her seat and sat down and never moved the rest of the service.

The service continued and finished with any further interruptions.

After the service, the pastor’s wife asked her husband the question that was on everyone’s mind when they got in the car.

She said, “Honey, what did you say to that woman to make her quit doing that and get up and go sit down?”

Her no-nonsense husband said, “I told her, If you don’t stop this right now, I’m going to call the police and have you arrested for disturbing the peace. Now you get up and go sit down and be quiet. She did.”
